What You'll Do

Divert is hiring a Senior HR Generalist to be the HR team's primary voice for our frontline workforce—a trusted partner who makes our values of Transparency and Win as a Team real for employees across the country. This is a hands-on, judgment-intensive role that spans employee relations, manager coaching, compliance, safety culture, and employee communications.

This role will consistently admin corrective actions, attendance management, leave coordination, and policy questions. The person who thrives in this role will also see those interactions as an opportunity—to build fairer, more efficient processes, to coach a manager through a difficult conversation, to help an employee understand their benefits, and to shape the habits and culture that make our plants and teams better over time.

You'll partner closely with our two HR Business Partners and our EH&S team, and report directly to the Chief People Officer.

Location: Longview, WA or Lexington, NC (proximate to a Divert facility; regular plant visits expected approximately once every few weeks or as needed)

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for managers and employees on employee relations matters including corrective actions, attendance point tracking, performance improvement, and policy interpretation—bringing consistency, fairness, and clear communication to every interaction.
  • Guide frontline and corporate managers through disciplinary and corrective action processes: drafting documentation, advising on appropriate responses, and ensuring we apply our standards consistently across locations.
  • With HRBPs, conduct or support workplace investigations, including fact-finding, documentation, and recommended outcomes.
  • Own and champion the AskHR inbox—not just answering questions, but crafting clear, accessible communications that help employees understand policies, their benefits, and what it means to work at Divert.
  • Serve as the HR team's liaison to our Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) team, collaborating on workers' compensation and injury-related leaves, and partnering to build consistent communications and a culture of safety that reinforces the same values we bring to behavioral performance.
  • Identify patterns in employee relations and safety issues and work with HRBPs and leadership to contribute to the department’s strategic action plan and address root causes such as manager training, clearer guidance, or improved processes.
  • Own and maintain HR policies and employee handbook content, translating policy into language that's clear and accessible for a diverse, distributed workforce.
  • Support leave of absence coordination during our transition to a new leave management platform, helping ensure employees are supported and that the transition is smooth.
  • Play an active role in benefits communication and open enrollment, helping employees understand and use their benefits, and amplifying the full value proposition of working at Divert.
  • Travel to Divert plant locations approximately once per week to build relationships, show up for employees, and stay connected to the business.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of HR experience with meaningful depth in employee relations, including direct experience with corrective actions, attendance management, and workplace investigations.
  • Experience supporting an hourly or frontline workforce, ideally in manufacturing, food production, logistics, or a similarly operations-heavy environment.
  • Sound judgment. You have made decisions on gray-area situations and are confident enough in your experience and knowledge of Divert’s policies to be consistent.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, written and verbal, across all levels of the organization—from a production worker asking about their attendance points to a plant manager navigating a difficult termination. You write clearly. You explain things well. You know how to say hard things with care.
  • Working knowledge of relevant employment law (FMLA, ADA, multi-state leave, wage and hour basics) and when to escalate for review.
  • Resilience through employee relations situations, managing collaboratively with professionalism, respect, safety, and documentation.
  • You believe that fairness matters, that frontline workers deserve to be treated with respect, and that a well-run HR function makes people's working lives better. That belief shows up in how you do the work.
  • A systems mindset: you notice when something is unnecessarily manual, inconsistent, or unclear, and you take initiative to improve it.
  • Genuine alignment with Divert's values—especially Transparency and Win as a Team.
  • Proficiency with an HRIS; experience with UKG Pro is a plus.

What's In It For You

The expected base salary range for this role is $110,000 to $125,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.

Benefits include:

  • Health, Vision and Dental Benefits (effective the first of the month following your date of hire!)
  • Life Insurance
  • Safe Harbor 401(k) Plan
  • Paid Time Off
  • Opportunities for Advancement with a Rapidly Growing, Mission-Driven Organization
