Senior Process Engineer - Gas Handling

What you’ll do & Responsibilities:

  • Sliding in as the gas and RNG systems subject matter expert to immediately support optimization, troubleshooting, and constraint busting for existing facilities.
    • Providing routine and ad hoc guidance to site teams operating existing RNG facilities.
    • Identifying, scoping, and developing improvement projects for existing systems.
  • Leading design development of gas handling and upgrading facilities for projects currently under development and as well as projects in the queue, including:
    • Issuing requests for proposals (RFPs) and managing technology/vendor selection for gas handling equipment including upgrader units, flares, blowers/compressors, analyzers, etc.
    • Working closely with vendors, contractors, and other internal disciplines throughout project scope development and ensuring seamless integration with the balance of the plant.
    • Developing commissioning plans and assist in facility commissioning and start-up.
  • Participating in commercial and regulatory discussions and keeping up to date with evolving standards. Understanding the impacts of product specifications, customer requirements, permit conditions, and renewable energy credit programs on the design of Divert’s RNG facilities.
  • Screening alternative and/or novel approaches to biogas utilization.

Location: This is a remote role; candidates must be based within reasonable distance of a major airport.

Travel: Short-term this role will require travel over 25% to support commissioning of our newest facility in Lexington, NC as well as a newly open location in Longview, WA - a high rate up to or over 50% is likely. Long-term, the person in this role will need to be able and willing to travel up to 25% annually nationwide.

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or similar from an accredited program
  • 5+ years experience in designing or operating gas upgrading / renewable natural gas production facilities.
  • Strong leadership skills, independent thinking, strong organizational and planning abilities and excellent analytical and problem solving skills are essential
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication
  • Desire to continue to grow with progressive and entrepreneurial organization
  • Impeccable execution skills. Say what you’ll do and do what you said

What will set you apart:

  • Direct experience designing and/or operating facilities in the waste processing industry - including anaerobic digestion and biogas upgrade (gas, RNG, biogas experience)
  • Experience in large and small companies
  • Experience with waste, food waste, anaerobic digestion, biogas, gas handling
  • Experience and comfort with multiple and blended contracting methods
